Trying to find a date in 2025 can be a chaotic experience. Some apps claim to be for your next casual encounter, but are full of sex workers or people looking for serious relationships. Other dating apps claim that they have thousands of members, but you see the same “hot girls” and “amazing guys” time and time again.
Enter Kasual…
Formally known as Yumi, Kasual markets itself as an anonymous hookup app for people looking for a good time. Could it be true? No games, no lies, no long-term expectations? Basically, like Doublelist without the nonsense?
I had to check it out. I’ve tried many other dating apps like Instabang, Fling, Hrny, and SweetSext, and all of them have good and bad features.
All I want is just a good time or friends with benefits relationships.
Would the Kasual app be better? Did I find casual hookups and no-strings-attached sex? Or, was it more scammers and people trying to get me to pay for sex?

My First Impression of Kasual, Formerly The Yumi App
Kasual, which used to be known as Yumi, is a really simple app. That’s the first thing I noticed. There was no over-the-top marketing, there were no promises of anything. It is just a casual, safe space where like minded people are looking for a potential match.
The app is available for both iOS and Android, and I found it to be really modern and clear on what to do.
Within 5 minutes, I had an account set up, and I was ready to start taking a look at what Kasual users are like and how I could make Kasual work for me.
Signing Up for Casual Encounters
The sign up process for Kasual was smooth. You put in the basics like your username, gender, age, orientation, etc, and then add what you are looking for. You can also upload a few photos.
I was browsing the app in minutes, though I did have to eventually take a screen shot and send it in because they wanted photographic and location verification. This is good because it means there are fewer scammers on the site…at least I hoped there would be.
I’m a straight guy, but I also liked that Kasual has options for LGBTQ+ users. Not all casual apps like this have these options.
Are People Actually Dating? Kasual App Users
Now a big question — are there actual real people on Kasual or is it full of bots and scammers?
I live in a medium-sized city, and I assumed that I would see a few local people, but mostly scammers. I was wrong! There were definitely people on there located close to me, and the more I browsed, the more I saw that other members were, indeed, looking for similar types of relationships. With both real men and women on the site, I could totally connect, meet new people, and hook up!
People on Kasual seem to be really honest and option. They say what they want and they aren’t afraid to say things like “I’m looking for a hookup tonight.”
I will say that since I live in a bigger city, there are more people around. I would imagine if you live in a rural area, you might not have as many options.
Features of Kasual – Is it Worth Paying for?
You can use this casual dating app for free, but is being a free member enough? This is what you can do for free on Kasual:
- You can browse profiles
- You can choose from the Kasual cards game
- Chat with mutual matches
- Use basic filtering
- View up to 10 photos per profile
- Respond to messages
If you upgrade to the premium version, you get the following:
- Unlimited profile views
- Advanced filters, i.e. kinks, interests, body type
- Access to more photos, including private photos
- Unlimited messages – you can initiate sending messages
- Ghost mode, which allows you to browse anonymously
- Priority placement in search results
- Super Flip on Kasual cards
- Video chat
I started on Kasual with the free version, but then a couple of days after, I upgraded to Premium. The difference was pretty significant. Being able to message anyone and access video chat was huge! I do recommend the subscription, and I thought that it was fairly affordable for what you get.
Compared to other similarly priced apps, I just feel like my time on Kasual was worth it. Fling, for instance, has a lot to offer…more features than here on Kasual. However, I always get hit by bots there. Instabang is okay, but there is no video chat, which I really like. If you are into sexting, SweetSext is great, but once I start chatting, I usually want to meet up. Hrny is also decent for messaging, but it’s just not my favorite platform.
Safety on the Kasual App
Safety is really important on any dating app, and if you have ever used any of these, you have probably found scammers and bots, right? Thanks to recent performance improvements on Kasual, it is harder to scam on the app because you have to verify you are who you say you are.
During the time I was using the app, I came across one or two profiles that looked suspicious, but they disappeared very quickly. Any other new match I got looked legit. One of the other benefits of this community is that there was a panic button that you can use if you need to quickly report someone in conversation.
This is good because even though the app seems to take a casual approach, behind the scenes, the developer, Yumi Limited, takes things very seriously, and people are blocked if they don’t follow the rules.
Real-World Success – Did I Actually Meet Anyone?
I did! I was on the app for a bit over a month, and I had two real meetups.
The first one was a woman I matched with in my city. She was looking for a FWB situation, and we chatted on the app for a couple of days, and then exchanged phone numbers. We met for drinks a couple of nights later, and things naturally led to the bedroom.
The other one was while I was traveling. I updated my location and started chatting. It didn’t take long until I found a smoke show who straight up said she wanted to hook up. Believe me. I was so glad I was a premium member in that moment. I slid right into her DMs, and within an hour, I was in an Uber and heading to her place.
Is Kasual the Perfect Casual Dating App?
Kasual is not perfect. It’s good…but it’s not perfect. There are a few things that I think the app could improve upon.
First, I think trying to find a hookup in a small town isn’t going to be easy. I like pretty close to a larger city, so I didn’t have an issue, and I was visiting a huge city for my second hookup, so that happened very fast. I don’t think it would be as easy to find a match in smaller towns or in rural areas.
I also think that the app should push for more detailed bios. Even using a prompt to encourage more info on a member’s profile would be helpful.
Though it’s better than other sites, bringing in more female users would be awesome. I know that males are more horny and ready to get lucky, but women can be the same. It would be great if Kasual could bring in more women.
Finally, I think it would be great to offer some more kink-specific filters to the site. I think something like that would do well on Kasual.
Pricing – Is It Worth Paying For?
Here’s the breakdown of pricing:
Free – $0.00/month
Pro – $19.99/month (Coming soon)
Elite – $29.99/month
It’s not the cheapest app out there, but compared to others it’s pretty good. However…
- SweetSext charges much less and free messages get you laid.
- Fling and Instabang has low costs and no fake profiles.
- Hrny is crazy cheap to upgrade and has the most premium features.
Kasual gives you a lot for your money, and I had no regrets about subscribing. They even offer a 24-hour trial for $1 if you just want to test the waters.
Final Verdict – Is Kasual Legit? Should You Try It?
After a few weeks of use, here’s my honest take: Kasual is one of the most legit casual dating apps I’ve used.
It’s not bloated with fake accounts. It’s not trying to guilt you into a “real” relationship. It’s clean, modern, and focused on consent-driven adult fun.
If you’re looking for a one-night stand, a consistent hookup partner, or a way to explore your sexuality in a safe environment, Kasual is absolutely worth checking out.
Compared to:
- Fling is fantastic
- Hrny is more modern
- Instabang is a better user experience
- SweetSext is better for IRL meetups, not just sexting
Kasual hits the sweet spot: real users, real encounters, and no pressure. And in the chaotic world of online dating, that’s rare.
